MOSS BUREAU offers Residential Curatorial Services
Why hire an interior designer when you could have a renowned curator work with you on your residence?
Murray Moss has curated over a hundred exhibitions, and the experience gained by his brilliant curatorial work in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Basel and London provides the foundation for his work with individuals in their living spaces. He brings an eye trained to maximize the potential of existing materials and pieces, and to provide expert and knowledgeable guidance as to what should be added, taken away or moved to a new position.
Murray is equally confident at taking an empty, or even unbuilt, space to full and thrilling completion as he is in working with a finished and furnished space, suggesting subtle yet profound adjustments bringing the space from not quite right to heart stopping.
His internationally recognized curatorial expertise derives from a profound comprehension of the interplay of space, object, texture, color, and light, informed both by historical context and deep current knowledge of possibilities. In his view nothing is trivial, nothing is insignificant and everything is important. Of greatest import, however, are the relationships of object to object, object to art, furniture to art, function to decoration. His approach goes beyond holistic, reaching to the emotional and stylistic fundamentals which underlay our experience of living spaces. The entirety of his work is collaborative, to a level which encompasses needs and conditions of which the client may be only dimly aware. To him, a living space is a “living” space, and can become a canvas for ongoing adjustment and refinement.
Moss Bureau functions as broker for Murray’s services as curator of your living environment, from large scale project to small consultations, making available to you a vast knowledge of sources, both in the industrial sector as well as artist and designer studio work, existing and commissionable. His expertise, derived in part from his ongoing research, visiting the major markets as well as frequent factory and studio visits, supports highly informed advice, including established and emerging design talents, and vintage as well as contemporary works, many of which represent iconic artifacts of their period, able to stand the test of time and increase in value over the years.
Moss Bureau can implement acquisitions and commissions. When architectural elements are required, Moss partners with Francois deMenil Architects, New York.
